January Video Below

So I finally finished our January Video, but I started the post a few days ago, so when I finally posted it, it posted before my miserable week post. So if you scroll down, you'll see it.

Miserable Week

Okay, so since I have been writing all the things I love about Bart I haven't been giving the regular update. In all honesty it was probably a good thing. It has been a pretty rough month. It started with Addison not sleeping (which has continued throughout the month until last night when she finally slept from 7:30 to 6:00!!!).

During the days, she was extremely fussy at first, but then she started being extremely lethargic and throwing up. We finally went to the doctor's the Thursday before Valentine's day and found out she had an ear infection. Friday she threw up her medicine (or spit it out after we gave it to her). I finally was able to get her to drink it in her bottle on Saturday. Then on Valentine's day she woke up with "Valentine's Spots" (as Bart put it) all over her body. After a quick visit to the Doctor's we found out she was allergic to penicillin.

The doctor said she still had a little bit of fluid in her ears, but the infection was gone. We had to give her Benadryl every four to six hours for the next few days (which she still refused to eat unless I tricked her by putting it in a bottle.) We had just gotten her off the bottle...well, off is relative. We refused to give her her bottles, but she kept asking for them. I think this whole "not taking her medicine unless it was in a bottle" was just a ruse to get us to keep giving her a bottle.

She still wasn't sleeping, and I didn't want to wait until she was throwing up again to go to the doctor's, so we spent President's Day at the Doctor's office to find out that once again she had an ear infection. It was only a little one so she gave us a prescription and told us not to fill it for a few days, and then if the symptoms were getting worse to fill it. When she told us that I wanted to scream! I just wanted to give it to her now so that she would actually sleep and I could stop being so tired!!! Fortunately Bart talked me into waiting, and it appears that she's gotten better on her own.

All this month I have also been working a lot of extra hours from home...which is absolutely exhausting. The few days that Addison takes an afternoon nap I have to work during it, and the days she doesn't, I am working with her either on my lap, or for the brief amount of time that I can get her to play alone with her toys.

To make things worse, I have been battling a cold that just drains all of my energy and refuses to go away.

On top of that, last week the travel agent informed us that our Safari was canceled because of all the violence in Kenya. She sent us some other ones, but they were either too expensive or at times that we couldn't go. I emailed my work to see if we could go somewhere else or get the money, and they said No. GRRRRR!!!!! Things just SUCK right now!!!

Fortunately this too shall pass. And among the misery, there was a few good days this month. Valentine's day was wonderful. Bart got me a boquet of beautiful tulips and irises. (I wanted to get a picture to post, but I couldn't find my camera, and was too exhausted to look for it). We had a wonderful dinner that night as well. Then Saturday, Amy babysat for us and we went to the Bombay House and then saw Juno...which is the best movie I have seen in a VERY long time. That was a lot of fun.

And the best thing of all, Addison has started giving these BIG hugs. She'll just randomly walk up to me and throw her arms around my neck and just squeeze!!! It just melts my heart! I love it!

She's also learning more and more every day. She now points to her nose, ear, eye, tongue, and belly button on demand...she's still figuring out teeth. She already new how to say nose, but last night as I was putting her down for bed, she pointed at her ear and said, "eee." Then at her eye and said, "Ah." I said that's right, "Ear...Eye." "Eeee...Ahhh." It was so cute!

And she has learned a new sign for sleep. Whenever we say, "Addison, do you want to go to sleep?" She tilts her head, put's her hand on her cheek and snores. It's so freaking funny! I love my little girl.

January Video

So I finally finished our January video...my mom pointed out that it starts with January 2007 instead of January 2008. LOL, typical me. Fortunately it's easy to fix, but I don't know if I'll ever get around to doing it, so for now here it is. Flaws and all. :o)

I love how he loves me

Okay, so yesterday Addison woke up with "Valentine's Day Spots" as Bart put it. They ended up being an allergic reaction to the Penecillin we were giving her for her ear infection. So it was a crazy day yesterday, so I'm finishing today.

I love the way he loves me. And he shows it in all sorts of ways. He helps me clean, he helps me with dinner, he helps me with addison. He lets me win fights even if I'm wrong. He's almost always the first to say I'm sorry....once again, even if it's me that's in the wrong. He tells me he loves me every day. He just makes me feel good about who I am. I LOVE HIM!!! He's the best!!!

I love how he loves our Daughter

And how much she loves him back. It is just so cute to watch him with her. I love it!

On Sunday Bart got up to go help pass the sacrament. Addison was NOT happy about that despite the fact that we were sitting like two rows behind him. She kept crying and reaching for him and saying, "Dada....dada." I kept telling her that he'd come back and sit with us in a few minutes, but that did not console her. Every time he walked by, she would briefly stop and look hopefully at him, but when he kept going she’d start crying again. Once he finally came back to sit with us, she was just fine.

And, last night she must have had a nightmare that he was gone or something because she woke up just screaming. I went in to try and console her, but it didn’t work. She wouldn’t stop crying until he came in. A few minutes after we left she started screaming again. I went back to see if something was wrong. She was standing and reaching for me, crying. I picked her up and she reached for the door. I went out the door and she pointed at the door to our bedroom. I walked into our bedroom, and she pointed to the bed. I walked over to the bed and she reached out for Bart. He took her and let her lay on his arm and cuddle with him and she was completely content. It was frustrating because she was up in the middle of the night, but it was really freaking cute too.

Nightside Project Valentines Advice

So the other Day Bart & I were driving home, and we were listening to the Nightside project. They had an expert on, giving suggestions for guys for Valentine’s day.

She was saying how a lot of Guys know it's really important, so they want to do something great, and keep putting it off thinking the great idea will come to them, then suddenly they find themselves running to the store before they go home from work on Valentine’s day getting cheap flowers and chocolates, and when they get home their wife knows it was a last minute effort, and they get in trouble.

I started laughing at this, and Bart looked at me a very concerned look on his face and said, "Don't laugh, it's a real problem." Which just made me laugh more.

The girl then proceeded to give suggestions about what to give for Valentine’s day. She had some great ideas. I kept going, "Ah! That's AWESOME!" And Bart was like, "MAN! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE IN THE CAR RIGHT NOW!?!" It was pretty dang funny.

I love that he loves teaching & is willing to work hard.

Although some days he does come home frusturated with a student or class, most of the time he just comes home so happy. More than once he has exclaimed to me, "I have the best job in the world!" It's awesome to have a husband that loves what he does so much.

He also is willing to work hard. Right now he has a second job in addition to his first, and still manages to come home and help me around the house. I appreciate that about him so much!

He Loves Art, and He Likes to be Informed

Okay, so it's really hard to blog every single day!!! Especially when it's not a set part of your routine. So here are two more things since I forgot yesterday.

He Loves Art -
He loves making it, he loves looking at it, he loves looking and learning about how it's made, and I love him for it! I like making art too, and I love that he encourages me even though I suck. :o) I love going to museums with him too. Some of my favorite family home evenings we have spent going through the Springville or BYU Museums of Art.

He likes to be informed -
Almost every day he comes home and wants to talk about something going on in the news. He likes to play devil's advocate too. If there's some issue everyone seems to be against, when we talk about it he'll often state the arguments for it even if he himself is also against it. I appreciate it because he helps me to keep a balanced perspective on things.

He Loves the Great Outdoors

I love that he loves to hike and fish and just be up in the mountains in general. I love hiking with him in Moab, and wherever else we find ourselves. The only thing you have to remember when hiking with Bart is not to expect to follow a trail.

The first time we went hiking, I insisted we stay on the trail, much to Bart's chagrin. After that I just sort of gave up. I did tend to walk on the trail…for the most part…but he would go and explore a hill or the bushes or something.

This past year we went on a hike with some of Bart’s brothers and our sister in law. I could see this beautiful trail winding up the mountain that just looked like it would be so much fun to go on, but nope. All three of the boys headed straight up a hill with no path. You’d think they were related or something.

He Loves to Read and He Values Education

Okay, so I know I forgot to write yesterday, but that's because when Addison was awake she was throwing up on me, and when she was asleep I was frantically trying to work from home. So today I'll do two.

First of all, he loves to read. This alone is a good quality, but to make things even better, he loves to read to me. I love discussing books we've both read, or are reading together. We both would eventually like to have a huge library just full of books in our home. It'd be awesome if we could actually do it! :o)

Next, he values education. And along with this, he values me having an education too. He was very supportive of me getting my graduate degree, which was something I REALLY needed because I don't know if I could have got through the program without him. I love how he wants to go back to get his graduate degree, and maybe one day even his doctorate. When he was still in school I loved how he'd come home and just want to talk to me for hours about something they learned. It was awesome!

He can spot little creatures on the side of the road a mile away

Okay, this sounds like a silly thing to love about my husband, but let me explain a little bit.

So after we got married, we drove from American Fork to Moab, and then Moab to California.

Bart was driving. All of the sudden, he yelled out, "Hey, There's a rabbit." I was looking all over and couldn't see it, so I said, "Where?" He pointed, "Right there." But as he said it, we drove past where he was pointing, so I didn't see it. I was skeptical that there ever was a rabbit.

A few minutes later he yelled, "There's a squirrel,"and pointed to a spot on the road in front of us. At first I saw nothing once again, and was somewhat concerned that I may have just married a pathological liar, but then as we got closer, sure enough, a little squirrel was sitting on the side of the road! I have no idea how he saw it. He was driving! I was concentrating completely on finding it, and I couldn't see it!

Since then we have been on many road trips and he has spotted everything from a heard of deer on the mountain next to us to a lizzard. It seriously just amazes me. It's like he was born to spot animals while driving. It's crazy. And every time he points out another creature, it just makes me laugh.

I Love How He Loves My Family

I swear! It feels like he has always been part of my family. They all get along so well, especially with my mom. More than once he has answered the phone when my mom was calling me, and instead they just talk forever.

My family means so much to me, and I am so grateful for a husband who loves them just as much as I do.

I Love How He Loves his family

I love that he is close to his family. I am really close to my family, so when we were dating that was something that I absolutely LOVED about him! I also just love his family period. It is so much fun whenever we see them, which is relatively frequently, but it always ends too soon. It seems like we are always laughing when we're all together. I love it!

Another reason that I love that he loves his family is for Addison. I absolutely love, and cherish my memories with my grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins, and am so glad that Addison will be able to be close to all of her extended family so that she can have all those good times too.

I Love That he Holds the Priesthood

I cannot tell you how much the Priesthood has blessed our lives...especially when Addison has been sick.

Twice now Bart has given Addison blessings when she was sick. The first time I could literally feel her tense, sick little body relax and calm down in my hands as he was giving her the blessing. The second time she slept better for the rest of the night than she had for nearly a week. I am so grateful that when we need it, Bart has the power to act in the name of the Lord. I know the Priesthood blesses our family so much, and I am grateful that my husband lives his life so that he is worthy to have it.

14 Things I love about My Husband

Okay, So I absolutely love Valentines Day. I know so many people who hate it because they think it's a holiday for couples, but I guess my mom just did a great job celebrating it with us, because I've never thought of it like that. I have always seen it as a holiday where you get to show all the people you love that you love them, not just a significant other. (I won't deny that some of the Valentine's days without a significant other had at least a little bit of longing in them, but even on those ones, I genuinely enjoyed).

Growing up, Valentine's day was a day that started with red heart shaped pancakes and red milk...yes, red milk. (I'm sure the stores made a great deal of prophet from my mom's purchase of food coloring for various holidays). There were always valentines from (and more importantly for) friends, and chocolate to go around. I loved making valentines for my family as well. When I got into college there were always some sort of flowers as well (mostly from my mom). Overall it was just an awesome day!

So ever since Christmas I have been thinking of ways to celebrate Valentines day with my own little family.

One of the things I decided to do was post a new thing that I love about my husband every day until valentines day. (There is a plethra of choices to choose from, but I have narrowed it down to 14.)

So, Number one -

I love how Bart Makes me laugh. And it's not just when I'm in a good mood either. It seems like he can get me to laugh no matter what. Even if I'm sad or tired or mad at him he comes up with some way to get a laugh out of me. I really hate it when he makes me laugh when I'm mad at him because it makes him think I'm not mad at him any more which I still am!....well, sort of. ;o)

Anyway, I heard somewhere that people who laugh live longer. If that's true, thanks to my husband, I will be living for a very long time.
