Popo and Spit

I know, I know, I know, two very yucky things you wouldn't expect this sweet girl to be doing. (Well, not me talking about her doing anyway). But I am going to talk about them none the less.

I am actually very excited about the popo part. Addison has started coming to me and telling me "Popo!" BEFORE she goes popo. She'll run to me, say, "Popo." Then lean over and start grunting. Why is this so exciting you may ask....well, she's one step closer to potty training. She knows what popo is. "Why is that exciting" you may ask, and considering that I will probably have to clean up many messes once she starts potty training, it really isn't that exciting. What IS exciting though is what will happen once she is fully potty trained. NO MORE DIAPERS!!! Now that IS exciting. Te he he.

Next, Spit. Well, Addison and I always brush our teeth together in the mornings before we leave. Me with my toothbrush and toothpaste, and her with her...well, her dad's really, but don't tell him...toothbrush and no toothpaste. She basically just chews on the toothbrush while I brush. But lately she has noticed that I spit once I'm done. I usually hold her while we're brushing our teeth, so lately she has leaned forward over the sink and spit into it. It was actually very cute...until she learned that you can actually make something come out of your mouth when you spit..namely saliva. Yuck!

Now she thinks it's so funny to spit on things. I am trying to teach her not to by taking away whatever it is she spits on. It is working for the most part, but I still catch her spitting on things every once in a while. I was just trying to encourage her to brush her teeth! Who would have thought such a bad thing could have come from trying to do something good.

Elizabeth Bennett

So my friend Janae had this quiz on her blog, so I decided to take it. Maybe this is why Elizabeth Bennett is my favorite literary character of all time!

I am Elizabeth Bennet!

KeyKey & Nursery

Okay, so last week we went to Sam's Club. I was on the phone, and Bart took advantage of my distraction to put a giant (like we're talking 7 pound plus) coconut cake in the shopping cart. When I got off the phone I said, "Fine, if you're getting a cake, I'm getting this cookie dough." And grabbed a tub of cookie dough.

It was Bart's Brother (and sister-in-law's) birthday, so we took the cake up with us when we went to celebrate, but we were stuck with the cookie dough all week. Finally yesterday I made a ton of cookies, and we took them to a game night with some friends. There were left overs, so we gave one to Addison today. I went to get her some more wholesome foods for her snack, and by the time I got back to her she had devoured the cookie and was saying, "Keykey...keykey." Heaven help me, my daughter knows the word for cookie.

Today was also her first day in nursery. She did really well. I dropped her off, and she cried for about 5 seconds when she saw me leave. I hung around the door peering in the window for a little while, and saw her get over it and start playing with all the toys. At the end of the meeting session, I went back down and peeked in the window again to see how she was doing. Everyone was playing ring around the rosie around her and she was in the middle jumping, clapping, and laughing. I think it's fair to say that her first day at nursery was a success. :o)

I was really excited for her to go into nursery, but now that she's actually there, I miss her. I bet if I was to hold my squirming little girl for another two hour block, that missing would rapidly dissipate, but for now, I miss my little girl. :o)

Spring Fever and Swimming Lessons

So for the few days that the weather has been nice, Addison has REFUSED to stay inside. I'm lucky if I can get her to stay inside while I eat lunch. We've been playing in the back yard, taking walks, and going to the park in our neighborhood. She absolutely loves playing on the playground. She climbs up the stairs and slides down the slides. I went down with her and held her the first few slides, but then I realized that I didn't even need to help her, she was able to slide on her own! And I like it because she plays so hard she wears herself out and actually takes an afternoon nap! So I can get stuff done! YAY!!!

We also started swimming lessons yesterday. Addison did great! I thought for sure she would cry when I put her under water, but she just laughed and squealed. She blew bubbles, and reached out for toys and jumped into the pool from the side (with my help). She did great! It was awesome!!! I hope the rest of them go as well as this one.

Unfortunately it is supposed to snow once again. It won't change swimming lessons since they're inside, but we won't be able to play outside for a little while. Oh well. At least we had a few days.
