Fire!

So these fires are right by my parents house. Part of our old ward has been evacuated as well as part of my parent's current ward. They're evacuating about 2 blocks from my parents house...surreal. Prayers would be appreciated. :)

Birthday Weekend

For my Birthday we...went here...for himBart's brother went through the Draper Temple for the first time on my birthday. I can't think of a better way to spend it than with family in the temple. It was SOOOOOOOOOO wonderful! My heart was just so full while we were there! It was wonderful! The next day was also the Oquirrh Mountain Temple dedication. It was a weekend full of temples, and I LOVED it!!!
After the temple on Saturday, for lunch we went here...I love Mimi's. And I love this guy. He's great.

A Dream Come True

So ever since I took my personal financial planning class I have dreamed of having a Vanguard Roth IRA. Well, my dream has finally come true. Since I quit working, I had to transfer my 401k somewhere, and into this little baby it went. I will need to pay taxes this year since contributions to a 401k come out of your paycheck pre-tax and Roth IRA contributions are post-tax, but since Roth earnings grow tax free, that's okay with me. My dream has come true.

I just wanted to post this in case any of you were beginning to think I'm not a total nerd. Now I have set everyone straight.

P.S. I had a great birthday and will attempt to do a post about it sometime later this week.

Special Mail

On Wednesday, we got a special piece of mail from the mailman. It was this:

For those of you who know what this is, no, Bart & I are not going on a mission...my sister Amy is!!! She was worried she wouldn't be in her current address when the call came, so she gave them our address. The day before we got the call the mailman came at 4:00. That day it didn't come until like 6:00 (With a little note from the postal service saying our mail time was going to be changing...on that day of all days! Sheesh!) We were watching the window for the mail man for two hours!!!

Anyway, here's a picture of her reading the call:And this is what she looked like as she read that she was going to the Taiwan Taipei Mission...I think she was surprised, what do you think?Ahh lovely sister missionary dresses.Addison looks very happy in this picture. I have a feeling when she finds out her aunt Amy, whom she loves so much, will be leaving her for a year and a half, she might not be as excited, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.Did I mention that she's leaving December 23?!? DECEMBER 23!!! Come on! Can't she just go in a week later and be with us for Christmas?!? Oh well. We're excited for you Amy. We love you!!!

(Hannah was asleep in the stroller)This guy put on quite the show for usHe was seriously only like 5 feet away...way closer than we got to any giraffe in AfricaAnd this guy was humongous.
Just Goofing Off
My Parents got the new Cannon 50D for when they go to Africa to pick up my brother in September, and I must confess, my favorite part of the trip was playing around with it.
