My Hero

Okay, so I haven't blogged much about Bart lately, and he has seriously just been amazing these past few weeks. I have been so morning sick I've just been miserable. And he has really stepped up. He has cleaned the house, done the laundry, planned meals, taken care of Addison, and done pretty much everything I should be doing, while working full time and then some. I love you babe! I don't know how I'd do it without you!!!

An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

Okay, so when I was younger I always scoffed at the old adage, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." This may be because I never really liked apples.

The only thing I liked about apples was the superstition that when you twist the stem off, the letter in the alphabet that corresponded with the number of twists it took to get the stem off was the first letter of the name of your future husband. (For example, if it took you three twists to get the stem off, your future husband's name would start with C...four would be D, etc.) In High school I actually got rather frustrated with my apples because the name of the guy I had a crush on was at the end of the alphabet. I would regularly count quarter twists as a twist. I still rarely got to his letter.

Oddly enough I still do this. Of course I usually yank off the stem on the second twist...sometimes you have to help the fates along a little. ;o)

Anyway. My parents got us a bunch of Allred orchard apples the last time they came to visit....for those of you who are in Utah, if you have never tasted an Allred apple, you need to go to their stand and get one. And while you're at it, get their fresh squeezed apple juice. It's AMAZING!!! For those of you not in Utah, it's worth planning a fall trip around. I am not kidding. And this is coming from someone who doesn't really like apples.

So I have been taking an apple to work with me every day in attempt to deplete the apple supply that currently fills both the fruit and veggie boxes of our fridge. And yes, I have been eating them. This has been going on for about a month now. (Seriously, they got us a ton of apples...and believe it or not, they're still good)!

Well in that time, Addison got sick. And when Addison gets sick, I get sick. There had not been an Addison illness to date that was not rapidly followed by a Rebecca illness.

But this time, I didn't get sick. This really was a miracle because I am so used to getting sick that I no longer even attempt not to. I still let her give me the same wet kisses she always does. I still snuggle up so that her cheek is right on mine. I will even still taste her food to make sure it's not too hot for her...sometimes after her spoon has been in her mouth. I get sick when I don't do these things, so I finally gave up even trying. But this time, no sickness came.

Now she is sick again. I'm not sure with what. She's loosing her voice, she sounds congested, and when she tries to clear her throat she sounds like a seal.

I am still eating my apple a day. Hopefully once again it will keep the doctor away. If not, at least it predicted my husband correctly. ;o)

So I'm a Terrible Blogger

I know I haven't blogged for a while. And to be honest with you, I don't really have any excuse. We've been doing fun things, Addison's started doing some more funny things. No excuse. I will attempt to make it up now though.
First of all, at the beginning of October, Addison, Bart & I headed down to St. George for a little family reunion with Bart's family. We got to stay at his Aunt Ruth's house which is just beautiful! It was a lot of fun seeing everyone and watching conference together.

On Friday night we went to a corn maze. The maze itself wasn't all that great, but it was fun being with everyone there. Unfortunately we only had my little video camera which takes terrible pictures . Oh well, c'est la vie.

Addison and her cousin McKenna were so cute together! They were hugging and kissing each other all the time.

Last Friday we went to the Zoo with Geneava. That was a lot of fun. Unfortunately NONE of my pictures turned out on my Camera, and Bart has the other Camera, so I'll have to see if he has some pictures when he gets back.

Addison has become quite the back seat driver. It started out with just, "Faster mama, faster." But now she's pointing and saying, "That way. That way!" Yesterday after I picked her up from Robyn's I decided I'd turn where she said to turn. After four right turns and instructions to drive into a field, I decided I'd take over again.

Lastly, we finally got her costume for this year. To be honest with you, I was kind of bummed. I wanted to get her a tiger costume because she loves telling everyone what a tiger says, but I couldn't find one. So I let her pick out her own costume. She picked a pixie. I wasn't too thrilled about it, but yesterday she wanted to wear it and she looked dang cute, so I'm warming up to the idea.

Okay, that's all for now. I'll try to post more frequently in the future. ;o)

Pretzles are my new best friend

But I should preface this by saying that I threw up for the first time last night. Yesterday was so weird. For the most part I felt pretty good all day long. And then all of the sudden I'd get these intense bouts of nausia. Usually I'm at least a little nausiated all the time and then really nausiated a lot of the time. There were actually moments yesterday when I wasn't nausiated at all! But then I'd get this wave that would hit me and send me hovering over the toilette bowl.

Whe wave finally won last night right before I went to bed. I took a unisom, and ate part of a banana in an attempt to not have an empty stomach when I took my prenatal vitamin. No such luck. I puked up the banana seconds after eating it. Oh well.

Now, on to pretzles. They have been my saving grace today. When I eat them I'm hardly nausiated at all! I love pretzels.

Computer Aversion?

Okay, so I know when you're pregnant you have food aversions, but I SWEAR I have a computer aversion. Seriously, every time I sit down in front of a computer I feel nauseous! It is making work SOOOOOOOOO not fun and blogging quite difficult.

Holy Crap I hate Morning Sickness

Well, contrary to what my last secret post said, I did in fact keep a journal of pregnancy happenings when I was pregnant with Addison. However it wasn't super detailed or specific. It was at pregnancyweekly.com. Thank heavens for online journals!

Well, according to my little writings, if this pregnancy is like my last pregnancy, I should throw up for the first time today. I'm not sure weather to pray that it's not like the last time or pray that it is. I have been terribly sick since Sunday night after we got home from St. George, but I haven't thrown up. I recall HATING throwing up...especially since I did it several times a day...but there have been times this week that I felt so sick I couldn't help but think, "Maybe if I throw up I will feel better." The only reason I haven't is because I worry that if I break the throw up barrier once, it will be harder and harder to stop, and last time I would throw up ALL the time...like even once I had thrown up and didn't have anything in my stomach, I'd throw up stomach acid!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOO sick! I HATED it!

Addison has the flu or something. She has been throwing up for the past few days, which really hasn't helped. I think I may invest in a nose plug.

Sorry Mama

So yesterday I baked some four dozen sugar cookies for the young women in our ward to decorate and then randomly leave on people's doorsteps.

Addison LOVES getting into our cookie cutter drawer, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to teach her that those cookie cutters are for more than just the taking out of and putting back into drawers.

For the first half an hour it was great. I was standing on one side of our island and she was standing on a chair on the other. She would pick out a cookie cutter, I would place it, and then she would help me push it down into the dough.

Well, after a while she got kind of bored and sat down on the chair. For those of you who haven't been to our house, our island is a piece of furniture that also acts as an open storage place for many pots, pans and bowls. Addison sat down and decided to use her feet to push one of the bowls further into the island. Unfortunately, on the other side of that bowl was my set of pottery barn bowls that got pushed off of the island. The bowls fell down and ALL OF THEM shattered!!!

I was soooooooo mad! those were my favorite bowls!!! One of them already had a crack in it and I couldn't bring myself to throw it away. I was SOOOOOOOOO mad! I said, "Addison! NO!" And then just bit my lip because I knew I would be yelling way more than I should if I said anything. She just sat silently on the chair staring at me with slight horror...she could tell I was really mad. I cleaned everything up and told Addison to stay in the chair until I got back, and went to throw away the pieces of my precious bowl in the outside trash bin.

When I got back, Addison was still in the exact position I left her on the chair. As soon as I walked into the room she looked down and quietly said, "Sorry mama." My heart just melted! I picked her up and gave her a big hug. It old her it was okay and that I knew she didn't mean to break it. That little girl really does have her mama wrapped around her finger!
