Well...I have an innie again

So to make a VERY long story short, Friday I had a partial placental abruption and was hemorrhaging quite badly. We rushed to the hospital and our twins were born via emergency C-section at 32 weeks (8 weeks early).

Maya was born at 9:37 and weighed 3 lbs 14 oz and is 17 inches long

Lilly was born at 9:39 and weighed 4 lbs 5 oz and is 16 inches long

They're both doing really well. Lilly is completely off any type of breathing assistance. She's just breathing air.

Maya was off breathing assistance, but was breathing kind of quickly and labored, so they decided to put her back on the CPAP machine for a while (The CPAP Machine is the machine in the top pictures). Which is basically just a tube below her nose that blows air into it. That extra air pressure helps them breathe a little. It looks a lot scarier than it is...just ask Addison. We tried to prep her by explaining about the tubes and how they help the babies. But it backfired. Now she's terrified of tubes. She doesn't want to see babies with any tubes at all.

We had a window of opportunity yesterday Where they had taken Lilly off the CPAP machine and hadn't put her feeding tube back in yet, so we rushed Addison in to see her. Maya was just in the station next to her, but she still had the CPAP on, so Addison was terrified to even look over there. So she's met Lilly (which, by the way she decided the name on long ago...I'll share that story later) but hasn't met Maya yet.

Both of their Bilirubin levels were up, so they're under the Jaundice lights today. But they both really are doing well.

When we got to the Hospital Friday night and heard their heartbeats, it was a HUGE relief. It's good to know that everything's going well and they're being well taken care of by the NICU staff.

I'm also doing well. I lost a lot of blood, but was able to avoid a transfusion. The way the anestesiologist put it, "You won't be running a marathon tomorrow." Yeah, to say the least. I was soooo tired ALL day Saturday. I literally felt like I couldn't keep my eyes open. My blood pressure was very low, so whenever I sat up I got dizzy and nauseous and would throw up...not fun with a c-section. But I'm doing much better. Vaginal deliveries have a WAY better recovery, but I'm doing well.

Thanks for posting. What a scary experience. Glad the hospital was close. The girls look darling, and perfect. Where is Hannah in all of this confusion? Get lots of rest, and keep track that you don't get anemic.
We are praying for all of you. Maybe the babes will get to come home for Christmas.:)
