Teeth!

Okay, so this is almost like another two week update. But in my defense, it has been a busy couple of weeks.

On Tuesday, March April 17th we left for Moab and were there until Friday. We had a lot of fun visiting everyone and watching the entire season of Firefly. I know, retarded huh. We go to Moab and spend hours watching TV!!!!! But seriously, it's an AWESOME show! Pretty scandalous in some parts, but in general awesome. I don't know why it got canceled before the first season was over. It has great character development and a pretty cool plot line, and is funny! We had already seen Serenity, so we kind of knew where the series was going, and I think that helped us really enjoy what there was of the season, but I really wish it wasn't canceled! There are still some things I would like to know more about! Like who is the Shepherd, and how come the Alliance made sure they cared for him when they found out who he was, and why is he so skilled with weaponry!?!

Okay, I know, totally lame. I've spent a paragraph talking about a T.V. show that most of you have probably never even heard of. I will get on to the rest of the weeks events now.

Moab was really fun. Addison had a good time seeing everyone. I was really worried that she'd be afraid of Bart's Grandma and Lee & Debbie's family since we haven't been there for a while, but she wasn't. She was smiling at them and going to them from day one. It was awesome! She even fell asleep while Grandma was rocking her!!! She NEVER does that any more!!! It was amazing.

While we were there we also spotted two little white teeth on her lower gums. At first they hadn't quite broken through the gums (you couldn't feel them, you could only see them). But now they have broken through! It's awesome! My little girl is getting teeth! YAY!

On Friday my parents and Stacy came into town. It was fun having them here too. Addison loved being thrown up in the air by my dad and playing with her aunt Stacy. Dad & Stacy went home on Sunday, but my mom ended up staying until Friday, so Addison got to play with her while I went to work. I love seeing her interact with both of our families, she gets so excited! It's adorable! She opens her mouth really wide and squeals and kicks her legs and flails her arms. It's adorable!!!

She's also getting really good at rocking back and forth on her hands and knees. We had a big scare the other day though. We were in a store with a bunch of rugs. One of them was very shaggy and Addison was having a great time playing on it. (It was quite a difference from our mostly worn away, hard carpet at home). :o) All of the sudden she started gagging pretty violently. Somehow she had pulled one of the rug pieces off and eaten it. It got caught in her throat and almost choked her. Fortunately she coughed it up and was okay, but it was really scary for a second. We were thinking about getting the rug because she liked it so much, but after that decided not to.

Now, you may have been asking yourself, "What were they doing in a rug store?" Well, we have a few rooms in our house that are rather long and narrow, so it's hard to figure out what to do with them. Since my parents are building their house, my mom took our plan to their interior designer and asked him how to use the space best. She brought us his design. Ever since then we've been itching to buy furniture and rugs and basically re-do our rooms. :o)

In fact, we went out and bought a couch! It was crazy because if you had told either Bart or I that we were going to get a couch the morning that we bought it we probably would have laughed at you. But, nevertheless, we had ordered it by the end of the day. We love it! There's so much more seating in our front room now! YAY!

We almost bought a second couch set for the other room too...fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it) we came to our senses and decided to put that off for a little while longer.

For our anniversary Bart & I went to the Olympic Park and did the zip line. The scariest part was sitting in your harness with your knees up against a board that they would open and to let you fly out. I was having some serious doubts before they opened that door. But once it was open, it was really fun. We also went up to Salt Lake and had dinner at the Market Street Grill. Bart has been craving the crab since we went there last year for his graduation. I'm not the biggest fan of crab, but man was it good!!! Thank you so much Amy for babysitting!

Well, as you may have noticed by now we do not have any new pictures. Unfortunately we have not been able to find our digital camera since we got home from Moab. Hopefully we will be able to find it soon. But for now, Au Revoir.

Two Week Update!

Well, the past two weeks have been a ton of fun.

Charles & Heather came down for conference. We made yummy granola bars, and Bart & I got to go out on a date while Charles & Heather watched Addison. Thank you so much! It was a great date, even if it was brief. :o)

Then the next week the Bart's whole family was down for a wedding & a family reunion which was also a ton of fun. Addison got to hang out with her Aunts and Uncles which was a blast.
We also discovered that she is starting to get stranger anxiety. The night Bart's family came down she was kind of tired and hungry, and when she saw Bart's dad she started bawling!!! Fortunately, Bart's dad got to stay with us a little longer, and before he left she learned that playing with beards is just as much fun as playing with mom's hair.

Amy & Eric also got to come to our house for Easter. Poor Uncle Eric got a taste of her stranger Anxiety too. I think it was the hat he was wearing, but by Sunday afternoon she had warmed up to him too. It was fun having Amy & Eric over for Easter. I love having my siblings close by!

Addison's Great Grandma Francis got her this big pink bunny for Easter.

Addison LOVES it! It's fur is really long, so it's easy for her to grab and pull around. It's fun watching her play with it.

Addison is starting to push up onto her knees. She can only do it for a short amount of time, but I know it won't be long until she is crawling around. I am both excited and apprehensive. Excited because it's fun to see her learn new things. Apprehensive because that means no more setting her on her blanket and being able to leave the room for a few min because I know she can't get anywhere.

She also LOVES taking baths now. I have moved from laying her down on a little slanted thing in the tub to sitting her up so she can play. It makes it harder to wash her sometimes...especially in all the folds of her neck...but she sure likes it a lot more. She has two rubber duckies that she likes to play with, and she has just discovered how to splash. I'm not sure whether she likes the duckies or splashing more. I think when she splashes she's trying to grab the water. She first tries very softly, then a little harder and faster, and so on untill finally she gets a face full of water, at which point she looks very disturbed that someone would do so horrible a thing as to throw water in her face! It's pretty funny.

Emily, Bart's cousin who watches Addison while I'm at work, is moving. Her husband is graduating and he got a job down in Texas. I am SOOOOOO sad about it! I was seriously up for like 3 hours last night coming up with mischievous plots to make them stay. :o) Addison has such a great time with Emily. She just starts squealing and laughing as soon as she sees her. It's always hard to leave her to go to work, but I have to admit, seeing how happy she is when she sees Emily makes it a little easier.

The other day she had just barely fallen asleep as we pulled up to Emily's house. She was kind of falling in and out of consciousness. She's open her eyes, then they'd droop back down again. Emily always comes up to help me get the diaper bag and Addison in to the house. She was standing by the car when I opened the door and Addison's eyes opened briefly before falling shut again. Suddenly they shot back open and she gave this HUGE smile to Emily and started laughing and kicking. It was SOOOOOOO cute!
I know Addison will love being babysat by Amy again, but we will sure miss seeing Emily every day.
Well, that's it for now, so until next time, Au revoir.

Too Cute

Okay, so I know I have already posted this week, but Bart just showed me some pictures he took of Addison that were so cute I couldn't wait until Monday. I don't really have a lot to say so I'll just put the pictures up...actually, I do have one thing to say. Addison is so funny, I SWEAR she likes the tags on her stuffed animals more than the animals themselves. She won't have any interest in a toy that I put in front of her, but if I turn it so that she can see the tag, all of the sudden she's totally focused on getting her little fingers to grab the tag and attempt to put it in her mouth. It's soooo cute!!! Okay, here are the pictures:

My Little Banshee

Well, I don't have Bart's pictures from New York, but he had a great time. While he was there the RAEA had an auction to raise money for scholarships. Bart bought a print that was a great deal, so we got our first piece of art. :o) Well, that wasn't our own art...well, I guess we did get a Tom Till picture for our wedding too. I guess we have quite a bit of art, but it was still exciting.

On Saturday we went to the Utah Art Museum. While we were there we kept running into this one lady. Every time we saw her, Addison got really excited. She'd smile and laugh and kick and flail her arms, and make these squealing sounds!!! It was SOOOOOOOOO cute!!! The lady thought she was the cutest thing ever.

We also went to the Art Barn (An Art Gallery by the U). While we were there we saw an art show that we had seen last month at BYU. This time the art was on sale. There was one print Bart & I had really liked, and it was for sale for a very reasonable price, so we bought another piece of art. So crazy! But very exciting.

Bart & I have really enjoyed the warm weather. Saturday we took Addison on a run around our neighborhood and the Fieldstone home development, then worked in the Garden all day on Saturday. SOOOOOOOOO fun. We are NOT looking forward to the snow storm that's supposed to come in tonight. Especially since our Apricot tree is in bloom. I was very hopeful when I heard on the radio today that most trees and plants won't be affected...then they listed the one tree that probably be affected...the apricot tree. Lovely. We lost all but three apricots last year, it looks like this year isn't going to be much better. Oh well.

As for the latest on Addison: She has discovered her voice. In Addition to the enthusiastic "Dada's" and focused "Ba...Ba's," She has refined her banshee scream. On the way from the baby sitter's today, she was screaming up a storm. It is sooooo funny! She'll scream, and then look at you and smile to see what you think of her new noise. Crazy baby. :o)

Today Addison and I also got to go out to lunch with Tabitha, her son Benjamin, Haas, her daughters Jade and Lucy, and Christa. It was SOOOOOO much fun! It's the first time we've all gotten together since Benjamin has been born. It was awesome! It was also kind of empowering. It made me feel like I could do ANYTHING! I can handle taking my baby to lunch with the girls, I can handle the world!!! Te he he.

Oh, AND Addison is FINALLY getting the hang of solids. She very successfully ate a whole bowl of rice cereal this weekend. Naturally it got all over her face, but at least the bowl was empty!

She is also soooo expressive. I pull out the camera and she just makes the funniest faces for me. It's so cute!!!

Well, that's all for now. Until Next time! Au Revoir.

Pseudo Single Mom

Well, my week as a pseudo single mom went relatively smoothly. I could probably do it if I could do it on the work schedule I have right now...although I imagine it would be considerably harder if I didn't know that my husband would be back at the end of the week and that I could call him at any time I needed him.

Although, at the beginning of the week I was ready to kill him...te he he. So Monday his plane was supposed to leave at 11:30 getting into New York at like 5:00 a.m. Giving him a full day before the conference to check out the city.

Monday was very stressful. Like a typical man (at least according to all the people...including men...that I talked to) he put off packing until the last minute. Addison did NOT sleep well the night before, so I was thoroughly tired, and was not extremely happy about driving him to the airport to catch a red-eye.

On the way there there were several things that he realized that he had forgotten, and needed me to email him. In addition to that, he was flying into JFK. JFK was further from his hotel than LaGuardia, but he assured me that there was a shuttle that the hotel provided to get people from JFK to the hotel. On the way there he said, "Maybe I should double check about the shuttle." I was rather distressed. The whole plan revolved around there being a shuttle, and now...AS WE'RE DRIVING TO THE AIRPORT...I realize that he's not sure. He calls the hotel and sure enough, they do NOT provide a shuttle! So I'm super stressed out, but he seems to think everything will work out.

I drop him off and frantically call my dad to find out how on earth he can get from the airport to his hotel. I get instructions and am about to call Bart to tell him what to do, but he calls my phone. I answer and am about to tell him what to do to get to the hotel when he says, "Um...I think my plane leaves tomorrow." I'm like, "WHAT!?!?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?" He wasn't.

So I turned around and headed back to the airport. He was in the customer service line to see if he could get on an earlier flight. If he waited until the next day, he wouldn't be able to get to the hotel in time for a meeting he had to present at. He was going to call me to tell me if they were able to work something out. I am in the car thinking, "I will NEVER let him book his own flights again....I wanted to teach him how to do this type of thing, but that was clearly a bad idea." He calls me back and lets me know that they got him on stand by on the flight, so I could head home. His parting words were, "I hope I'm not calling you in an hour to tell you to come and get me because they couldn't get me on the flight." I told him, "Me too because I'm NOT coming to get you! You can either get a shuttle home or stay at a hotel!" Which admittedly sounds very harsh, but I was seriously doubting that I could get home now without falling asleep. I KNEW I wouldn't be able to make it in an hour! Fortunately they were able to get him on the plane and it didn't cost us anything more. Now I need to write them a thank you letter.

It was not fun to go through, but looking back it will be one of those stories we tell and laugh at when we're old and gray. Te he he.

In the meantime, life went on. Addison has now begun solids. Her first sitting went....well....not so well. :o) She got a taste of the rice cereal, and refused to open her mouth again...which is TOTALLY ironic because EVERYTHING she can get her hands on goes straight into her mouth, but she would NOT open her mouth to let that spoon in again. Finally we just gave her the bowl thinking, "Well, she'll play in it and get some on her hands. She ALWAYS puts her hands in her mouth, so she'd get some that way." Nope. She played, but her hands never graced her lips.

I thought that maybe it was because we mixed it with formula instead of breast milk. So, yesterday, when I fed her I tried breast milk. It really didn't go much better. She did open her mouth this time...which you would think was progress...but unfortunately, to eat you need to close your mouth after opening it. This time she refused to closer her mouth. She just let it hang open with this disgusted look on her face until all the cereal fell out. Oh the joys of solids. I'm not too stressed. I figure she'll eventually eat solids...won't she? Another milestone happened yesterday. After a week of not seeing her dad, as I'm changing her in the morning Addison looks up at me, smiles, and says, "Dad." I guess Bart's months of chanting, "Dadadadadadadadad" as he changes her diapers has finally paid off. All day she was chanting. "Dadadadadadadadad."

Church was probably the most stressful part of the week. I had a lot of things I needed to run around and do which was much harder carrying The Little One. To make things worse, she was due for a nap right as we were going to church. She never sleeps in church, so I had one tired girl on my hands. Normally she gets whiny when she's tired, but...have you ever been so tired that everything is funny? Well, I think that's what happened to her because she was laughing at EVERYTHING today. It was pretty funny. I was like, "well, if I have a tired girl on my hand's I'd much rather her be giggly than whiney."

Bart gets home today at like 1:00 a.m. I was supposed to go pick him up, but Heavenly Father blessed me for taking him to the airport on Monday. The teacher he student taught with, who also happens to live in Spanish Fork, was on his plane and offered to give him a ride home. Hallelujah!!!! So hopefully next week I'll be able to post some of his pictures, and some stories from New York.

Until then! Have a great week!
